A great choice for beginners or those looking for a fun challenge. Enjoy swimming in the ocean in relatively calm conditions near uShaka Marine World.
1.6km
The standard 1-mile distance. This is a perfect event as a step-up for competitors who have taken part in the Midmar Mile and other flat-water events.
3.2km
Perfect for those with some experience or competitors looking to extend themselves with a bit more distance. This offers an exciting way to test your fitness.
5 km Swim
An adventurous option for seasoned swimmers and racers. Challenge yourself in this beautiful environment while supporting ocean conservation.

You can enter online through our official race entry page at MyActive, just CLICK HERE.
Compulsory race registration and check-in will take place from 5.30am to 6.30am on the morning of the event at the Durban Beach Club. Late entries will be accepted on race morning if the event capacity has not been reached.
For the event, please bring your swim gear, including a swimsuit, goggles, and a towel, and clothes to change into after the event.
All swimmers MUST wear a FNB branded pink cap – entrants may order a free cap when entering if needed, but anyone who has a cap from the 2025 race is encourage to reuse it
This is a single-use plastic-free event, so we will not be selling water in plastic bottles. We encourage swimmers to bring their own reusable water bottle which can be filled up at our refillable station hosted by D-water.
All Coffee can be had in a sit down cup but if you have your own, we encourage you to please bring your own mug. All swimmers are asked to B.Y.O.C (bring your own cup)

Below is the ROUGH program for the day. Please note this is SUBJECT to change.
The swim will probably start IN the water waist deep for ALL events.
The 5km cut off for half way (2.5km) is 1 hour) the final swimmer will be asked to exit the water by 9:15am to allow us to be ready for prize giving by 9:30am.
Swimmers have the choice of four race distances:
The 800m is ideal for those who are not experienced sea swimmers and novices who literally want to test the waters.
The 1.6km is a standard mile distance and very popular with swimmers who want to compare times.
The 3.2km is for experienced ocean swimmers who are looking to extend themselves.
The 5km distance is a official FINA-recognised open-water racing distance for swimmers looking for a challenge and aiming to test themselves against the best entrants.
We will be awarding prizes for top 3 males and females for each event only, as well as a prize for the youngest and oldest male and female.
All the remaining prizes will be distributed as SPOT prizes so you want to make sure not to miss out. There are many spot prizes available! There will also be an AUCTION again this year as well as a RAFFLE for entrants who have bought tickets for the lucky draw prizes.
